hearing him apologize, she shook her head lightly. ’ you don’t need to be sorry, it’s not your fault. ’ and it really wasn’t, so the last thing she wanted him to do was feel responsible for the deaths he couldn’t prevent. if anything, she felt guilty and responsible for being the one from their small group who’d survived. maybe if she’d of…

quickly, those thoughts were pushed aside and she allowed her arms to fall back in place at her sides but she did not stray to far from them. she remained close, maybe an arms length away — she didn’t dare take risk even though they were safe.

but of course, for how long.

once things seemed to of settled down, maggie looked back to rick and the others. she knew at least what they could be thinking — what is this place? how long had they been this way? more importantly how long will they be safe here.

’ so, what do you think of the place? ’ she wanted to get an idea of what they were thinking, whether or not if this would be a permanent home, or temporary.

Except, it was his fault. Most of the choices he made these days got people killed, he made mistakes that he would never be able to take back, that some people would never be able to forgive him for. Just hearing her forgive him, tell him that all was alright and that she understood, gave him hope - he held onto that, then held on to her. Rick wrapped his arms around her again, relishing in the moment, the moment she forgave him for doing the wrong thing.

Rick stood back, allowing her her space. His arms returned to his sides as he looked around at the same room him, Carl and Michonne had been taken into when they’d first arrived. It was quiet, clean - it was rare to find somewhere that didn’t have blood staining the floors, reminding them of the world outside.

He was not yet fully trusting of the people that owned the Sanctuary, wasn’t entirely sure they would be staying long. They had walls, food, water, showers, everything they needed and more to live, but they barely knew the people that occupied the area - who was to say that this wasn’t just another Woodbury with another insane Governor.

❝ I don’t know yet, I haven’t even met the person in charge. Until then, we don’t get too used to being here. ❞ By now, she should know that nothing lasted, that this was just another place along the line.
