Parker knew at the end of the day, Rick was simply trying to protect him, which would take some getting used to. The boy stands from the place he had been previously sitting, brushing his hands along his pants before looking towards Rick with a stoic expression. “What are you going to do?” He pauses. ♙ —To Rick, Parker was just a young man, lost among people he barely knew. He constantly felt sorry for him, watched from a distance as he tried to fit in somewhere he hadn’t grown accustom to yet. The former Sheriff was trying his hardest to make him feel safe, to make him want to stick around and remain with the group. The last thing he wanted was for the boy to step outside by himself, to return into the wild.
He rested his hand on his shoulder for a few seconds before returning his arm to his side and focusing on the prison behind them. He considered what he had asked him, was curious as to what exactly he would do. Then he remembered, there was nothing he could do. They had to wait and see what happened, and if it was bad, they would have to adventure out for the right medicine - if they could even find it. ❝ There’s nothing I can do.
