She grinned. It was nice to finally feel like
she was on his good side. Even if she’d
intentionally vanished to go on this run, she hadn’t
planned on her delay. A few days wasn’t much
but when you’re so accustomed to company, it’s a
bit more difficult.Stooped down, she pulled through the various items for
Rick to see. She’d already settled the arrows aside,
began folding the clothes she’d found. The children should
occasionally have that luxury, even if it was just
the delight of a new t-shirt. The adults would
have to go without. As for the rest, there wasn’t much in the
way of food, but she’d scrounged up a few
gallons of water, some of which she’d packed, others
in which she was able to carry right on
in. She’d even managed to find a toy or
two for Judith as well. As for the seeds:“The place I found was stocked, it’s owner was
ready, but apparently not ready enough. He was a
single father with two daughters and a son. They
were … trapped in the basement when I found them.”The sight wasn’t a pleasant one, especially since she’d
had to kill them first.“—If I had the truck, we could go back.
There’s plenty more and I’d rather be safe then
have to go back when someone else has found
it, if you catch my drift, Rick.”
People from his group went on runs all the time.
He always constantly worried for them, incase
they didn’t come back and something terrible
happened to them. It had happened before, it
could happen again.
He picked up the seeds and rolled a couple of
them around in the palm of his hands. These
would help them out a great deal - also, it was
good to pass the time by waiting for them to
grow.
Luxuries were always hard to come across in
this world, but they seemed to get them a lot
now that they had the prison.
He lowered his head at the mention of the dead
children she must have come across. There was
nothing worse than witnessing what the world
could do to children these days. He decided to
avoid talking about it.
❝ We can do another run in a couple of days.
Bring more people with you, a car maybe.
Load it up with whatever’s left. ❞

Leigh would never admit it, for the sake of everyone and the fact that it was generally unfair, but she was always ready...
They would be able to lay low if it was the two of them. Would be able to get in and get out without there being any...
